Single Skin Oil Tanks

Single skin oil tanks are the simplest form of oil storage available, manufactured from plastic, usually Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) and mild steel.

All the plastic oil tanks we supply are manufactured to OFTEC standard OFS T100. Plastic single skin oil tanks are rotationally moulded as one piece, with a 1" bottom outlet, 2" fill point and inspection hatch.

Steel single skin oil tanks are manufactured to OFTEC standard OFS T200. Although steel tanks are available in standard sizes, 250gl, 300gl and 550gl, one advantage of the manufacturing process is the flexibility to make tanks to our clients own dimensions, particularly useful where space is limited or standard size tanks will not fit.

Both single skin plastic oil tanks and single skin steel oil tanks can be used at certain domestic installations after an oil storage risk assessment has been carried out and oil tank installations were there is an existing bund that meets the current regulations. See pollution prevention guidelines for above ground oil storage PPG2.

Bunded Oil Tanks.

Steel bunded tanks

A Bunded Tank consists of ‘a tank within a tank’. The inner tank is the primary fuel storage vessel, whilst the outer tank acts as a failsafe containment system. Therefore, in the event of a spillage (e.g. as a result of the inner tank being overfilled), surplus fuel will be safely and securely contained within the outer tank and thus, a potentially expensive pollution incident will be averted.

Just like the single skin tanks, bunded tanks are available in plastic and mild steel and are manufactured to the OFTEC standards, OFS T100 for plastic tanks and OFS T200 for steel tanks.

Bunded tanks can be used for domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural premises connected to appliances such as boilers, cookers, hot air blowers, grain dryers, generators or a lubricating oil system etc...

Diesel Tanks.

A Bunded Diesel Tank is used to deliver fuel to vehicles and plant machinery, it’s a generally description used for a bunded tank with an integrated pump, hose and automatic cut-off nozzle, often incorporating some type of flow meter and can be fitted with full fuel management systems.

The dispensing equipment is contained in an area of the tank that offers protection against accidental spillage, referred to as the fuelling cabinet, usually has a locking door. Smaller tanks such as the Atlas 1300FDA, 2500FDA and the Harlequin 1400FP/FS and 2500FP/FS have the fuelling cabinet within the main bund, larger plastic and steel tanks may have a separate containment area from the main bund.

Available in plastic and steel, with a variety of pump options from a hand pump, 110v or 240v ac and 12v or 24v dc battery powered.

Diesel Bowsers And Transportable Tanks.

Bowsers are designed to transport fuel between sites or locations. Bowsers are similar to static tanks with a few main differences, the construction is generally stronger, the vent is usually self closing and the tank may be baffled to reduce surge when moving.

Bowsers used on the road must be a UN approved IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) and the user must comply with ADR transport regulations for the quantity of fuel being transported. When used to refuel vehicles, plant and static appliances, pollution prevention guidelines PPG2 must be adhered to, which is why we only supply bunded fuel bowsers and bunded transportable tanks.

Waste Oil Tanks.

A bunded waste oil tank is similar to a standard bunded tank, with several features designed specifically for waste oil use. These is a ‘Tundish’ funnel shaped lid with oil filer holder and a 2" evacuation point.

Available in plastic and steel. These tanks can be used as a independant storage tank where the user pours the waste oil directly in to the tank or as part of a system where the tank in connected to a pumping point where an intermediate vessel holds the waste oil and connects to the pumping point when full.

Water Tanks And Water Bowsers.

Water tanks and water bowsers fall in to two main categories, potable (for drinking) and non-potable water (non drinking). Water tanks and bowsers are single skin are used for different purposes depending on the ancillaries used.
